''The Chevrolet Bolt was early on the EV scene and we lauded it for its relatively spacious interior, fun-to-drive nature and solid amount of range. Those qualities are still present with the latest Bolt, and they're joined by a nicer interior and excellent value,'' Edmunds writes.
''The Bolt scooted from 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds in our testing, which is reasonably quick for an EV in this price range. You can merge onto freeways with ease or overtake when you need it. The Bolt's brakes are consistent and easy to control if you prefer to not use the single-pedal mode to do most of your slowing from regenerative braking. We like the latter since it requires less effort and improves range. There's even an additional steering-wheel regen braking paddle for those who want to maximize energy recuperation.
The Bolt responds smoothly to steering inputs without feeling darty. The steering feel and feedback are good, and the car stays straight ahead on the highway without demanding driver attention. When the road begins to curve, the Bolt feels nimble and sure-footed,'' they go on to say.
According to experience.gm.com there are no recalls or programs associated with this Bolt EV.
The Bolt EV can be charged at home and at public charging stations (there are more than 40,000 of them in the U.S.) with a 120-volt (Level 1) portable charging cord or an optional dual-level charging cord. At equipped stations, you can use DC Fast-Charging. To lower your charging time at home, many recommend installing a 240-volt outlet. Chevy also gives you the capability to schedule your car to charge at off-peak hours.
According to Chevy, it takes about an hour to gain around 4 miles using a 120-volt household-style power outlet. with a 240-volt outlet, the battery gets to a full charge in roughly seven hours. If you use a DC Fast-Charging station, it will take about 30 minutes to add 100 miles of range.
The Bolt has an excellent driving range for a non-Tesla vehicle, with an EPA-estimated all-electric range of 259 miles.
With its odometer now reading 1,541, it is STILL COVERED under the balance of the factory BUMPER-TO-BUMPER warranty until October 2026 or 36,000 miles (whichever occurs first)! Additionally, its engine, transmission and drive axles will be covered by the remainder of the POWERTRAIN warranty until 2028 or 60,000 miles!
