This R1S uses Rivian's Standard Pack battery and two electric motors producing a combined 533 horsepower. It carries a rated range of up to 258 miles, plenty for a week of typical commuting and errands on a single charge. Electric power means no oil changes, quiet operation and instant torque every time you press the accelerator.Charging is flexible. On a standard 120-volt outlet, Level 1 charging adds about 2 miles of range per hour, which suits overnight top-ups after light driving. A 240-volt Level 2 charger at home uses the R1S's 11.5 kW onboard charger to add about 24 miles of range per hour, enough to replenish a typical day's driving overnight. On road trips, DC fast charging at up to 210 kW adds substantial range during a short stop, and Rivian owners can also access a growing network of fast chargers, including Rivian's own Adventure Network.
