The R/T combines a turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric rear-drive motor and a 15.5-kWh lithium-ion battery. Together they produce 288 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, while the front gasoline drivetrain and rear electric propulsion create the Hornet's EAWD system.The EPA-rated all-electric range is approximately 32 miles, allowing many shorter commutes and errands to be completed without using gasoline when the vehicle begins the day with a charged battery. Once that electric range is depleted, the Hornet continues operating as a gasoline-electric hybrid rather than requiring a charging stop.
