STANDARD FEATURES
The R1S Quad-Motor Launch Edition puts one electric motor at each wheel, giving the SUV instant torque, independent wheel control and 0-60 mph acceleration in about 3.1 seconds. It rides on an adjustable air suspension that lifts for trails and lowers for easy highway cruising, and it carries the large battery pack for an EPA-estimated range of up to 316 miles.Inside, a large central touchscreen and a digital driver display put vehicle controls, navigation and driving information in clear view, with over-the-air software updates that can add improvements over time.
CHARGING, RANGE & ELECTRIFIED POWERTRAIN
The 135-kWh large battery pack gives the Quad-Motor R1S an EPA-estimated range of up to 316 miles, which varies with wheels, speed, temperature and conditions. The vehicle's display currently shows about 281 miles of projected range at a 99 percent charge.At home, Level 2 charging at up to 11.5 kW (48 amps, with a suitable circuit) adds roughly 25 miles of range per hour. On the road, the R1S can fast charge at high-power DC stations at up to about 220 kW, with a 10 to 80 percent charge typically taking about 40 to 45 minutes depending on battery temperature and charger output. A standard household outlet works for slow top-ups.
MECHANICAL FEATURES
Four permanent-magnet electric motors, one for each wheel, make 835 horsepower and 908 lb-ft of torque, and the independent wheel control helps the R1S find traction on pavement, gravel and trail. The air suspension adjusts ride height, and regenerative braking recaptures energy every time you lift off the pedal, extending range.
