The Taycan 4S is a true all-electric vehicle. This example has the larger 93.4-kWh Performance Battery Plus, and the EPA rates the Taycan 4S at 203 miles of range. Porsche's 800-volt-class fast-charging design allows a peak charging rate of up to 270 kW, and under ideal conditions Porsche says the battery can charge from 5 to 80 percent in about 22.5 minutes at a compatible DC fast charger.Charging at home is simple. Edmunds reports that a 240-volt home charger fully recharges the Taycan in about 10.5 hours, which is a comfortable overnight routine, and this Taycan includes Mobile Charger Connect and a power charge port cover. The Taycan uses a standard SAE Combo charge port.
Power comes from two electric motors producing 482 horsepower, and up to about 560 horsepower with the launch control overboost function, which helps the Taycan reach 60 mph in about 3.8 seconds according to Porsche.
Mechanical Features
Two permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors, one at each axle, send power to all four wheels for quick, quiet acceleration and strong traction in rain and snow. A two-speed transmission on the rear axle helps the Taycan launch hard and cruise efficiently, and regenerative braking returns energy to the battery every time you slow down.An adaptive air suspension with auto-leveling and ride-height adjustment lets the Taycan ride comfortably or sit low and sporty, and Porsche Surface Coated Brakes help the car stop as confidently as it accelerates. Please note that in March 2022, Porsche bought this vehicle back from its first owner after the owner reported an electrical fault with the high-voltage battery (the large pack that powers the car).
Porsche replaced the high-voltage battery and a servo motor (a small motor that makes precise movements), calibrated the related software, drained and refilled the cooling system to remove trapped air and reprogrammed the high-voltage control unit (the computer that manages the battery). Manufacturer documentation is available and will be reviewed with the purchaser.
